During the life time of Sri Vuppuluri Ganapathi Sastry Garu, a Parishat was sought to be established in a meeting of Scholars and Intellectuals on 9.02.1989 christened as ‘Sri Vuppluri Ganapathi Sastry Veda Sastra Parishat (VGVP)’ with Bhy. Ganapathi Sastry Garu as Chief Patron and he chose ten of his disciples as office bearers. The first Veda Sastra Sabha was conducted by himself on 20.02.’89 at his residence in East Marredpally, Secunderabad, in all splendour and glory of chanting Vedic Mantras. Subsequently it was registered on 29.04.1989 under Andhra Pradesh Public Societies Registration Act, 1350 Fasli with himself as the Chief Patron and nominated Sri Justice P. Kodandaramayya, former Judge, High Court of Andhra Pradesh as Chairman. The Memorandum and the Rules and Regulations envisage to “Encourage and Promote studies in Vedas, Sastras and Sanskrit in the Traditional pattern (Gurukula) of education and to provide maintenance and teaching grants to Veda and Sastra scholars and such other activities of preserving & propagating Arsha Vignyanam”. He was a Vedic scholar par excellence and was unique perhaps in blending the pursuit of the knowledge of the Vedas & Sastras. Sri Vuppuluri Ganapathi Sastry Garu left his mortal coil on Seventeenth July, Nineteen Eighty Nine (a day before Guru Poornima) which bore fruit subsequently and was consequently the executive committee and the office bearers of the Parishat are ordained to follow objectives envisaged by Sri Ganapathi Sastry Garu in the Memorandum and the Rules and Regulations of the Parishat, sincerely with dedication and devotion. The Parishat hereby decided to pass on the information on website about the genesis and how it has been going about its task of “protecting the custodians of Vedic learning and culture” for over 25 years since its inception. | |
